    Caimen Lizard (Dracaena guianesis)
The caimen lizard is a reptile that I've had on my top 5 must have before I die list since 2000.The reason I've never aquired one was the $1500+ price tag(If you could even get one) However as of lately I've noticed a great deal of them posted on KS.com,Some were posted for as little as $600!!:O:O

Caimen lizards have a very specialized diet of Snails making a regular supply of a large snail(Like an apple snail) Essential to the well being of the animal. On a few ads I saw that Mazuri Croc pellets have been used to feed them as well as canned snails(Didnt even know those exsisted did ya? Me neither;)) So that was obviously a huge step toward establishing breeding populations in captivity. So my question is this Was there some huge breakthrough in the captive breeding of Caimen lizards? If so what was it?

As far as I know these animals are being imported by the dozens. I was speaking to a friend of mine at the last show, and he was saying that he JUST got a shipment of over 20 WC specimens.

So it is not hard to assume that CB babies are available, and becoming more so.

I believe there may have been importation restrictions up until recently which could lead to some of the recent additions to the market.

Though quite a few of those ads stated they were CB
I was just flipping through a REPTILES Magazine from 2005 that did an article on Caimen that said they had never been bred in captivity but one WC that was gravid laid eggs.
