breeding question for someone that knows more then me

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas about this. This my first time breeding and I introduced my lemon pastel male to my female normal and they have been together for 3 days and have showed no interest in each other. Is this normal and any ideas to what I should do?? The male is 780 grams and female is 2500 grams. Thanks - garett

Sounds about right.. They don't always lock the first time..they may never lock...Keep trying

Yeah honestly, just keep introducing them, separating them every 3 days and hopefully he will do the deed, but they don't always do it when you want them to.

I'm u leave them together for 3 days how long should u leave them apart for?

3 days on 3 days off, and just because you didnt see a lock doesnt mean it didnt happen, keep pairing until you see an ovulation, best of luck!

It could be that he's not ready regardless of his size. It could also be like somebody said above they wont always lock on their first intro. Also you wont always catch it. For instance my 1400 gram male enchi will do the deed for 24 hours at a time, but my male yellow belly at 900 grams will go for about two hours, and never on the first date.

But this is my first year too so I'm learning as I go. I've got a male lesser, and a male pastel in the 500 to 650 range that only spoon with the girls. Haven't witnessed a hook-up yet. So I think as there are a lot of variables the best thing that I have to keep in mind is what somebody on here said in another thread " They've done it for 1000's of years in the wild without us. Give them time and THEY'LL figure it out." . So basically try not to complicate it. They'll figure it out.

Great post, I'd just like to add don't check on them too often, I know it's hard at times but the more you check in on them the more chance of stressing them out, if they are going to lock they will lock wether you see it or not. Best of luck!

Maybe their just getting to know one another;)

Seriously keep pairing them, it usually takes a few encounters for them to start getting it going. The introduction of the male can also make the female begin to cycle which will cause both of them to be more receptive. Dont expect a home run on the first date:D

A rain or snowstorm is always a great time to pair them up.
