Thermostat issues?

I seem to be having an issue with my Johnson Controls A419 thermostat. It is wired with a powerbar to control up to six devices, but it only is keeping the correct temps in the cage with the thermostat probe in it.

I have two snakes, a three foot corn snake in a 20 long terrarium, and a young 18" woma in a small 15quart rubbermaid. The rubbermaid has a 6x11" heat pad, and the thermostat probe is in her cage. I have the thermostat set at 88 right now.

The 20 long has an 11x 17" heat pad, and I plugged this into the powerbar as well. But it doesn't seem to be regulating this heat mat at all. The temp ranges from the 70's up to 96! I don't know if this is because the probe is in the other cage, or if it is because the two mats have different wattages? But if it is because of the probe, does that mean you can really only use this thermostat with one cage? Or do all the heat mats need to be the same size and wattage?

It's because your using different types of heating devices.

Use the same type of heat all the way across the board and your problems will be solved.

You mean because they are different sizes? I just don't know how I can use the same sizes when one container is only like 14" long by 10" deep by like 6" tall, and the other is a 20 long tank 30"long by 12.5" deep by 13" tall. Any advice? Should I use a 6x11 heat mat on the 20 long too? Isn't that too small? Or should I use two of them on the one tank?

You could use 2 of them on the same enclosure, like put em side by side.

Different widths, different brands, different wattages will all affect output temperature. They all react differently and have different efficiencies with a given amount of power.

You need to use the SAME IDENTICAL heater ALL THE WAY ACROSS THE BOARD.

Exactly, diferent sizes means different voltages and different temps.
