    F/T roaches?
I've got a colonly of dubias breeding and growing and they seem to be doing a great job so far. My only problem is that I seem to have more males than females and have read its better to have a 1:2, or 1:3 ratio of males to females.

Is it possible to freeze off excess males? Are they good F/T? Can herps like beardies or monitors eat them? Will they? If not i'll just package them up live and try to sell or trade them or something, but i recall hearing somewhere that F/T roaches make good food for insectivores.

Is it cruel to freeze them? I wouldn't want to do anything bad to the little buggers.

    Suggestions, thoughts?

Monitors will definitely eat them. I feed my two monitors 2- 3 dozen a week. Dubia roaches are much better than crickets, they never escape, and my monitors love them. Roaches are becoming very popular as feeders in the pet trade.

i know all that :) i was wondering if offering frozen thawed roaches was a possibility. I just dont have anything to eat the adults.

My monitors won't eat them unless they are moving, but I would think it would be possible.

thanks, thats what i was looking for.

I suppose i could just start another bin of males and trade em off when i have too many. Or freeze em.

Not sure what you are feeding but my adult leopard geckos eat male dubia with no problem. Been feeding the excess males off for nearly a year now and the geckos love them!

Yes, beardies and monitors will relish adult dubia males.

As for freezing and feeding.. I'm pretty sure the insect should retain all of its nutritional value. However, my crested geckos and pacman frog (only things that I feed my dubias to atm) are much more reliable at eating the buggers if they see 'em crawling.
