    After the feed
I am new to this forum and new to Ball Pythons. I got my first Spider male a few days ago. He has be doing very well in his cage. Loves his hides and is out and acvite about 2-3 hours each night from around 2-4. I know because I woke up and laid there and watched him for two hours this morning...

My question is...and I know I will get blasted for not searching enough, but I have and just can not find where I read this information on this forum...

I just fed him a f/t. He took it with no problems at all. Actually very relaxing to know he took it with no issues.

    1. He spun it around and ate it tail end first. Is this common? Any issues with this?

    2. Did I read some where to keep higher temps to help with the digestion?

Thanks for your time and help

    Re: After the feed
Snakes will sometimes eat their foood item backwards. Mine will sometimes do this when their food item is smaller than what they can eat. when they eat it head first, the legs of the mouse, rat folds at a position that makes swallowing their prey easier. most snakes will eat their food properly but it is not uncommon for a snake to eat one the wrong way. The poop will just come out backwards

And once you get your temps in your enclosure set properly. you don't raise it when they eat. Too low of temps, they don't digest their food correctly, and sometimes they don't digest it at all. and too high of temps the food gets metabolized too fast and they don't get as much out of it as they could of.

    Don,
Thank you for the information. He came half way out of his hide..blasted the F/T. He then spun it around backwards and took it down pretty quickly. He then went directly back into his warm hide. He sticks his head and looks around every now and again, but I am just very happy he took the F/T the first time and struck it pretty quickly!

Looking forward to more information on this forum.

    Thanks again everyone!
