    breeding question
What would you get from breeding a motley to a normal?

    normals 100% motley.

Motley is a pattern mutation, but it is recessive just like all the corn morphs (bar one, but we'll ignore that). With all recessives both parents must carry the gene in order to reproduce it in their young.

I have a question about blizzard corns... Its amel and anery, (charcoal) so then what would the offspring be? if theyre recessive traits. Or do you need an albino het anery? / how do you get that.

I don't understand your question. What would the offspring be if you cross a blizzard with what??

You might get better results if you post your question in your own thread, since it has nothing to do with the original question about motleys.

no amel x anery for blizzards. how do you make them! :P

yeah but i didnt want to start a new thread for a stupid question that is probably easy to answer.

    Hi,

Both recessive so an amel x charcoal gives you normal looking double hets (sometimes called het for blizzard ). Breed those double hets together together and you can get blizzards as one of the possible outcomes.

And if you breed two blizzards together you get all blizzard offspring.

Ah. I understand what you were asking now. It really isn't a stupid question; pretty much everyone is confused by genetics until they get the hang of it.

Derek (Dr Del) already gave the basic answer. You can start with an amel and a charcoal, breed them and produce double hets. Grow them up, breed the double hets together, and each egg will have a 1 in 16 chance of being a blizzard.

You also mentioned starting with an albino (amel) het anery (in this case, it would need to be anery B, also called charcoal). If you were able to find a amel het charcoal and a charcoal het amel of the opposite sex, that pair could produce blizzards, and you'd have better odds too, 1 in 4 for each egg. You'd also get about 25% amel het charcoal, 25% charcoal het amel, and 25% normal appearing double hets. You could also use a matched pair of amel het charcoal (or charcoal het amel), which would still give you 25% chance for each egg to be blizzards, but the rest of the clutch would be amels 66% phet charcoal (or charcoals 66% phet amel).

So blizzard can only give Albino or Charcoal.
Can you explain what Blizzard x Albino would be?

Im bad at squares like that... Plus I do them the un smart way
Im pretty sure there would be possible blizzards, and albinos... and albino het charcoal? and maybe normal het albino if thats possible...

I get confuzzled with recessive sometimes and i only do a square with 4 boxes.

Blizzard x Amel (with no hets) will give all amels 100%het charcoal (which could be stated as amel het blizzard). All of the offspring will look like a standard amel.

    Edit: amel = albino
