Few Questions

First of all just want to say hi to every1 as this is my first post but ive been lurking here as a member for a few months.

okay well i got my first ball python a few months ago and everything is goin well hes about 300 grams but i want to get a new tank as the one i have dosent seem that good but i was wonderin would the 90*45*45cm tank from exo terra be to big even if i put a bunch of plants and stuff in it to fill up space and make it more secure.

Also a couple of times my bp has refused a feed so i waited 4-5 days and tryed again and he took it but if he refused a second time do i just keep waitin 4-5 days and keep tryin.

Ive also had a bit of trouble with humidity so i was wonderin would it be okay to mix substate such as aspen bedding and cocnut bark to raise humidity a bit more or is it better to go with just the one im currently using aspen bedding.

Thats all i can think of for now thanks in advance

If you are having trouble with humidity, switching to a bigger tank will not help you.

I think you could move him into a 20g long at this point. The tank you listed the dimensions of seems too tall for a ball python but the floor area is good.

I would start offering food every 7 days if he is refusing ever 5 days.

You can mix substrates if you want, just don't let the substrate stay damp for too long or it will start to mold or cause scale rot.

Ok tanks think i might go with a smaller tank but the one i have him in now is 45cm high and whenever he comes out he always seems to climb is that normal

Those Exo-Terras are too tall and not worth the money for a ball python. They are more for lizards! A 20 gallon long tank is a good idea.

Ball pythons are terrestrial snakes and don't do much climbing unless they are stressed or trying to escape. Babies will climb a little bit but as they get older they will stick to the floor.

I had a large adult (135cm) in one of those tanks like you are considering, and he would spend hours at night roaming the tank. He would go up one side and try to crawl upside down along the bottom of the screen until he would fall over. I was so worried he was going to hurt himself that I finally set him up in a 60 quart tub (85cm X 48cm X 15cm). It had about the same floor space as the tank, just not the height. After that, the only time I would see him moving was usually going from one hide to the other. From my experience, anything over 35cm (14 inches) is too tall and they don't like it. If anything, the largest tank I would recommend for a large adult would be either a 30 or 40 gallon breeder. But for any snake under about 105cm would probably do best in a 20 gal Long which will measure about 75cm X 30cm X 30cm. Hope this helps.
I'm going to post a pic of him doing the climbing that you said yours does. I used to have alot of fake vines around the top of the tank, but he kept tearing them down. So finally, I took them out and left a few down low for him to go under. But to answer your question, it is not normal for them to keep doing this constantly and is a sign of stress...
