    Blood after shed/breeding
I have been breeding my male ghost to my normal female. I noticed about a week ago that he was going through shed. I was doing my rounds today to clean out their cages and give them clean water and noticed something odd. He shed and everything seemed fine, until while cleaning I noticed a few of the pine shavings had presence of blood. Immediately I checked both my snakes to see if any one of them had any cuts. My female seemed fine, male seemed fine. I than checked my males vent and noticed that it was a little red. Checking it out further it looks like theres blood in there. I figured that I wouldn't mess with this further and see what you guys think of it before I start flipping lol.

Do full grown adults have issues like hints of blood around their vent? Should I be worried? Could it be because he has been breeding? He hasn't ate a meal in over 2 weeks because hes breeding, but I never have seen my female have any issues of blood from her vent before. Any suggestions would be appreciated. :snake::tears::please:

    So I googled and found:
    7. I noticed blood near the vent after a shed! Is this normal?

This type of bleeding is not uncommon. Some snakes are "rough" on themselves during shed. Because the skin inside the vent is rather tender, sometimes tearing can occur during a shed. This is not anything to be concerned about unless the bleeding does not stop within a few hours. If the bleeding does not stop or seems severe, an immediate vet visit is warranted.

    Has anyone experienced this?

Yes is normal for them to bleed a little after a shed. If you look closely after every shed, you will most likely find a small stain of blood somewhere.

The Sheding usualy start by the head, and it ends at the tail inside the Vent. It is the "border line" where dead old sking separates from the live.

If it is a more serious bleeding, I would be concerned then.

    Hi,

Good work on finding the bit about the shed causing little drops of blood. :gj:

Since you said you had been breeding them there is also another thing to consider.

Since you are using pine shavings you won't be seeing the trails as clearly as on a paper substrate but she might still be doing it.
