Average number of Eggs layed by young BPs?
    Hi there

I have 2 female BPs and they will be 18+ months of age by next breeding season. Assuming they are of weight, say 1500g (if you have done lower weight, feel free to pitch in please) Whats the Average number of Eggs layed by BPs of that age?

    Thanks

I think you should also ask folks to specify if their weight is higher than 1500 as well. My guess is you will find that clutch sizes relate more to weight than they do to age.

You are right, I just assumed if they were around 18 months of age they would be at 1500g. Ofcourse more weight is fine too, my question is directed more to the age (18+ months).

Like was already stated, the weight is more what will determine the clutch size. :gj:

And just a pointer.... 18 months doesn't necessarily mean 1500g. I had a female hatchling from last year (09) hatch in April and by december she was 900 grams, I recently sold her. But being as she was an awesome feeder, I could've easily had her up to 2000+ by 18 months.

And likewise I picked up two females from someone that had been feeding them mice only, their entire lives. they were both approx 6 years old and one was 900g and the other 1050g. Now with proper sized prey they are up to 2600+ and 2400+ grams respectively. :D

Just a couple examples that age has nothing to do with weight. :gj:

As for the egg question, it also depends if its a virgin female or not.

Average clutch size for 1500g I would have to say is probably 4 - 6. Obviously with a smaller female you get smaller eggs and a larger female the opposite.

Size is your number one factor. I recall reading about 12 - 14 egg clutches from bigger girls.
