Female Macklots off feed

Just curious to see if anyone else has this happen. I've got a pair of late 2008 Macks (housed separately). Up until mid November, both were hammering mice every week, but since then the female has no interest....the male has actually surpassed her in size now, and he was about 3/4 of her size when I got them in early 2009.

I've read that mature females will sometimes go off feed, but she's obviously not mature yet...only 370g. Since there's not a lot of info on them out there, I'm trying to get an idea of whether or not this is normal for them like it can sometimes be with other species.

She's still as active as she has always been and seems to move around a lot in the evenings. The problems comes at feeding time when she'll strike and strike at the f/t mouse but either won't constrict at all or will constrict and immediately let it go. I've tried leaving one in with her all night but she doesn't care about that either.

Kept on cypress mulch, 78-84*F, moderate humidity and 1 hide box.

My adult female went off feed for about a year. She would only eat a rat once out of every 3 or 4 offerings. Other than that, she has been a consistant eater. Currently, she wants to eat more than usual.

I emailed Dave at VPI and he told me pretty much what I had thought anyway....sometimes snakes go off feed during the winter months. He said he'd expect her to pick up by the end of March if she's as healthy and active as she seems to be.

He also told me I might want to re-sex the pair because typically males go off feed during the winter... I can't pop for anything and I've never probed, so it might be time to learn!

Popping looks so easy, but it just doesn't happen for me for some reason...lol
