How long after laying till she will resume eating

My female pastel just laid 7 slugs about 2 weeks ago. I have offered her a small rat a few times and she really show no interest. She still weighs about 1600 after laying but her back end is really thin. How long is it usually before they will pick up feeding again usually?

Did you give her bath afterwards, clean her tub with all new bedding? If you have not done these things I would try them first them re offer her food.

If you clean them and their cages most will eat immediately. I've had females eat the same night after laying the night/morning before. However, I do have a few each year that take some time to start eating.

I did wipe her down immediately after I removed her eggs and cleaned her cage also. I have since cleaned the cage a few times. Maybe she is just slow to wanna feed again. Ill just keep offering it to her

Thats sucks man! Sorry to hear about the slugs. Thats gotta be heart breaking after so long of pins and needles.

What are you using to clean the tub and snake. The smell may still be lingering around.

I use antibacterial soap on the snake along with chlorohexidine. Some have even used Simple Green(bio-degradable) in a 1-2ounces per gallon wiped with rag/.

You could also just use a new or different tub until you get it clean enough to make you mor comfortable.

Maybe I shoud wipe her down again. I just used a warm rag and water. Maybe she does still have the scent of the eggs on her. Ill try the antibacterial soap.

Yeah it was disheartening to have the slugs but I learned alot during the process so the next time around Ill know what im looking for. I have a few more females that might go this year so hopefully I get lucky.
