    Vancouver:2010 Opening Ceremonies
    Anyone else watching?

Ever notice how French Canada seems when we broadcast international events? Okay, okay, I know, we're officially bilingual, but lets be honest, most Canadians get grade 5-9 french class and that's the end of it.

I'm glad that they have been showing loads of respect to the athlete from Georgia who passed away earlier today (at least on the coverage I'm watching, and also the crowd when the team from Georgia came out)

    Any other thoughts so far?

It's background noise right now. But its on anyway. I just waiting for the US Hockey team to play. Or well any of them, my favorite players are from mostly other countries.

    Lookin' good, Canada! :gj:

I like how they brought the athletes out first so they could enjoy the show, too!

I live 45 minutes away from Vancouver, and ironically, I share almost no interest in the Olympics. I watched bits of the opening ceremony, though. A little over the top, but pretty breathtaking, nonetheless.

As far as I can recall, it was over $900 million on security alone, and around $4 billion in total for the whole event. If my memory serves. Holy Jeezum. :weirdface

I'm really happy with the opening ceremonies, they hit everything I want people to think of when they think of Canada. Colourful, eclectic, adventurous, etc.

Also, I got to tell my American friends the legend of the Chaisse Gallerie after they asked why the canoe was flying~

It was ok. glad to see they didn't try to "out do" China in the opening. But the $$ they spent was crazy. I give it only like a 6 or 7. The games have been good so far.
