Noob in genetics.

    Noob in genetics.
    i don't know much in genetics im a total noob, but i was doing some reading today about and was reading about the "het" thing and did i understand right that the het looks like just a normal sometimes? and if so whats a way to identify a het from a normal. correct me if i got the whole thing wrong.

    Nope your spot on.. Het recessive's look just like normals. What makes you able to tell..you buy from a reputable breeder.

    thanks for the helpfull link. so there's no chance for example to know if my normal is really a normal or a het since i didn't get it from a reputable breeder right? also my only good chance of getting morphs from her if i were to mate her would be with a dominant male right?

    You can prove it out by breeding it :gj:

    You could breed her to a dom or co-dom and would get 50% visual morphs 50% normals. :gj:

    If you did not buy the snake as a het, 99.9999999999999999999999% of the time it is normal. :gj:

    Well, if they said it was het for something, and you paid 50 bucks for it (just a guess..i really dunno what you paid for it) - then chances are it's a normal type ball python.
