GGGRRRRR!!!!! this is really starting to annoy me
about a week ago i completely changed the substrate in my BP cage. i went from orchid bark to cypress mulch. and he freaked out. so i immediatley changed it back to orchid bark and fed him. and he went back to what he usually does and sat in his warm hide box. but the last day or so he has been coming out and just pushing his head up into the screen. i dont know what changed for him but its really annoying. he got out last week from the smalllest hole in the screen top and he keeps going back to that hole to see if he can get out again. what do you think is wrong with him. nothing has changed with my husbandry. about a month ago i bought some hides that a lot of people have on this site. and they are bigger than the last ones obviously. i just dont know why he is acting so different these days.

If you keep changing things around, it could be causing stress. Try one thing and stick to it, he'll get used to it.
Re: GGGRRRRR!!!!! this is really starting to annoy me
i only changed his cage once. i change it once a month to keep it nice for him
Re: GGGRRRRR!!!!! this is really starting to annoy me
In my opinion there is nothing wrong with him. If all he is doing is being active and moving around then you have absolutely no problems. :D How old is he? I know many breeders are pairing up their snakes or already have, maybe hes getting to be sexually mature and is looking for a lady friend.

once my male was a year old he began trying to get out of his enclosure more as well, I think it has to do with breeding season and them trying to get out and find a mate. I have females around him so he might be picking up on that but still a possibility.

Hi,
Actually you changed it twice.
You changed it.
Then you changed it back again.
We weren't kidding when we said any change can stress them out. Just leave it as is and he will eventually settle down.
