het caramel albino or het axanthic w/pin

hey all

as told in a earlier thread i have recently bought a male pinstripe. he has a pretty golden brown with a solid stripe. I wanted to make a jig saw or a king pin. im still undecided with that but i was looking at getting a het or 2. So my question is if i mate a male pin to a female het ( caramel or axanthic) whats the chance il get a axanthic pin, or caramel pin? Or is that how it works

1 in 100 million..it happens but unless he's het Caramel or het Axanthic you have 0 chance of producing an Axanthic Pin or Caramel Pin.

the babys would be all have a 50% chance of being Het's and a 50% chance of being Pin Het..

I do not believe that is how it works.

Recessive morphs won't show up unless they get that recessive morph from BOTH parents. Meaning that for an axanthic, for example, if you breed a het axanthic to a het axanthic, there's a one-in-four chance of getting an axanthic.

Breed a het axanthic to something that isn't het axanthic and you have a zero chance of getting a visible morph. Some of the offspring will be hets but there's no way to know which ones.

What you can do is this...buy an axanthic female, breed to your pin male to get 100% hets. Then breed one of the offspring that is pin to the female, and there's a 50% chance of getting an axanthic, and a slim chance of an axanthic pin.

I personally prefer incomplete dominant morphs myself, because I'm so paranoid about buying hets...but I'd love to get a pair of het clowns or het VPI axanthics down the road.

so only with a pin het (one or the other) and the same het with the female is that possible. So if I breed him to one of them i should get a pinstripe with that het and then breeding it back orto another het will make what i want. is that what you mean

Close pin bred to a het means that the pins only have a 50% chance of being het's so ever baby could be hets and then again none of them could be.

wow thats a shot in the dark. Well let me ask this whats the chance if i was to buy the axanthic girl and mate to the pin straight out what the chance of the axanthic pin

1 in 1000 million.. the pin would still have to be het.. however the offspirng would all be 100% hets. so you could breed one of the babies back to mom and get a shot at the axanthic pin..

recessives are a rewarding and fantastic way to get many different combo's don't let the investment of time and energy sway you..if that's the combo you want go for it!! No need to settle just because its faster to produce Bee's or something. I say get you a female Axanthic and a male Pin and get to work hatching that dream morph.
