    Eagle Scout
I know this is way off topic, but I am so proud. My youngest son had his board or review tonight and is now an Eagle Scout on the 100th anniversary of scouting

Congrates! I was a scout back in the day.. Lots of fun and I learned most of the things I know now b/c of it.. Plus if he joins the military ( dont let him! ) he will enter as a higher rank and get more $... congrates again

By no means is this off topic for the Off Topic Cafe! You are justifiably proud of your son. Congratulations to you and him both.

I fail to see why joining the military as a bad thing. The military could use great leaders and example setters like her son. There have been many great men who have served and are produced because of the military. There is nothing wrong with serving your country- it's more than a lot of people are willing to do for the continuity of freedom and the rights we enjoy in this country. Plus, it will completely cover the costs of higher education if they so choose to do so, and instill many values in young men that will serve them their entire lives.

Back on topic, congrats to your son! That is a great achievement to be proud of. He joins the ranks of Neil Armstrong, Jim Lovell, President Gerald Ford, Mike Rowe (yep, the guy from Dirty Jobs is an Eagle Scout), Steven Spielberg (yep, he is also one), Sam Walton, and many other notable figures in history. And of course, now your son.

That is truly an accomplishment. If I recall correctly, only 3 or so of every 100 boys who joins the scouts make it to that rank. Less than 1% of all the males in the US are Eagle Scouts. I think that is a noteworthy accomplishment and he should be very proud of himself for it. :salute:

His dad told him he would break his legs.

But out of the 3 boys he is the one that would be best suited for it.
