    My new baby Shilow
She is about 3 years old and around 4 foot. I'm not sure of her weight just yet. A good friend of mine could no longer keep her. So I took her been wanting another BP since my other one passed. Shilow is still a bit on the defence. I'm guessing its just because of the new place and owner. But she did eat 3 mice in 24 hour.

Give her a hide and she will not be so freaked. also I would suggest using an undertank heating pad instead of the heat lamp. You will get better and more even heating and it still keeps the humidity at the correct levels.

    Like Turbo said...

Get a hide, real substrate, an UTH and something to control the UTH (either a lamp dimmer or thermostat), then two thermometers and a hydrometer, or a single Accu-rite from Wal-Mart. Also, cover three sides of the tank. It'll give her more security.

I'm sure there's other things that are slipping my mind atm.

She's a very pretty girl though!

I cant realy say much other than what the nice people above said, other that I see you are using regular office paper as substrate, use newspaper is much better, and absorbs better.

That was her first night home. I have changed her bedding and giving her a hider. Just for a few day I'm use a box I cut down low with a small hole but she can get in. As for heat I just got done reading up on UTH. My tank sit on a stand I think you can see it in one of the pics. There is about 3 inch space between the tank and stand. To help heat excape do you think it would be safe to raise the tank a little for air flow? One side of the tank is covered do to the heat lamp sitting to close to the glass. So I cover the whole side with Duck Tape inside and outside so she can't rub it and get cut. I have a Co. making me a new side for it. But back to the three sides being covered. Would I be safe in using something with a landscape or would that be to busy and stay with a solid?

You could cover the sides with something decorative. It doesn't matter much, just as long as they don't see a whole bunch of motion around their tank.

With my first BP, after I learned some husbandry here in BP.net, I black spray painted 3 sides of her 10g. That was just a quick fix, I wasnt planning on keep her on that anyways. But it actualy does not look that bad.

I've never thought about that. That's rather interesting.
