Dumeril's are pretty good boas, but females can reach 8 ft. I would consider a male, even though they may get 6-7 ft.

Rosy boas aren't bad either, and so aren't Kenyan Sand boas. Maybe try looking into those species?

I love my Hog Isle Boa! Here's a pic of her checking out BP.net:

She's about 6 feet long, docile (although she has a tremendous feeding response), and is a great pet.

A male columbian, or any of the central american boas should stay relatively small..... kenyan sand boas are a rare, unique and quite small boa that would be a cool addition to any collection and are relatively cheap...

Most of the insular island boas stay 6' and under, as well as the male Peruvian Long Tails (boa constrictor longicauda) and alot of the Mexican boas. Here is a link to Rio Bravos website where they cover most of the Central and South American species.

i have a male dumeril and a male salmon red tail and i think the dumeril is a better pet, but for breeding i like the red tail.

Dumeril's boas are definitely awesome to keep, and they have the strangest but coolest personalities. The only downside is that they are finicky eaters. That really gets frustrating. Besides that, I don't see any other downside.

    I love the dums!

My young male is a massive pig. Chomps down a large rat without hessitation. Then minutes later he's looking for round 2!

My female is a little more finicky. She eats when she's in the mood. But I don't stress. They are too easy to overfeed, so when full grown, it is fine to go a month or so between meals if she just isn't getting that hungry (rarely have to wait that long, but it happens).

And both are just super docile. Never nipping or hissing.
