Weights,

So, I was wondering if anyone could give me a list of approximate weights for BPs up to say, 2 years old (like, at 2, 6, 12, 18, and 24 months, for example). I've looked and looked and I'm sure I've seen answers floating around, but I can't find a definitive, well, list. I know this is probably a little subjective, but if I could get ballpark answers that would be awesome.

That is because ball pythons grow at different rates. There is no approximate weight based on age.

I can give you an estimate based on the weights of my snakes.

Hatchlings up to about 3 months are usually under or around 150g.
Juveniles are between 3 months and a year old and are between 200-400g
After a year they are considered Sub-adults and are anywhere between 400-1500g
Adults obviously weigh between 600-3,000g it really just depends.

My girls like to show me how different a snake can grow. I have one male that has been on the same feeding schedual as the rest and is only 545g one girl is 1110g. My Mojave female eats anything and is the fastest growing snake I have ever had. She is not being power fed but (like me) everything she eats goes to her waist :) Now my male pastel has been in the 600g area for almost 6 months.

It is going to vary alot from animal to animal... I have to 08 females both from the same breeder born relatively close time wise to each other, the lemon pastel female is 600grams, and the black pastel female is just over 1300grams.....I have been told that some morphs tend to feed more consistantly, and grow better the two that I have heard that about is Spider and black pastel, and from my xperience that shows true (my huge 08 black pastel fem, and two 09 spider females that I aquired in early nov, as very young hatchlings, both doubled in weight between nov and dec, also doubled again from dec and jan,) Dont know its going to be hard to find a consistant growth weight.

But like the others have said, they all grow at their own rates... I have three boys all born in July '09, and they weigh around 500, 600 & 800g respectively. Yes, the last one (Julius the mojo) is a porker! :O

thanks guys, I was just looking for some kind of base number. My three seem a lot smaller than most of the posted weights, although I'm not entirely sure if my scale is correct in the least (I'm looking into a digital one very soon). My first is from early 09, second mid 09, and third late 09 (that's the best ages I could get, sorry) and they are 325g, 175g, and 125g respectively. Now, all three are thick and round and healthy looking, and they've been on a regular feeding schedule of one adult mouse every five days since I've had them, so I guess they're just slow growing? :confused:Only the middle one, the Spider, has refused a meal, and it took a month of him going back to the place I got him (the Chicago Reptile House rocks, am i allowed to say that? :D), and he was a little skinny after that, but he hasn't had a problem since. So?:confused:

Those weights don't sound bad at all. Maybe a tiny bit small but really nothing to worry about. I have a couple mid-late 09's that are under 200g still.

That is really good to hear; it's so hard to tell how big they should be from people's posts :P Not to mention I just got my first BP less than a year ago :) Thanks guys!

Another good example of how they grow differently. My Pewter who hatched in August '09 is only about 300 grams empty and has an awesome feeding response.

My previous '08 Pastel is 360 grams empty. He is a picky eater.

I know females can get large (2500-3000g) but is there an average male adult size seeing as how the are smaller at adulthood than female?
