How does one pick out a fire bp?
I have been reading things about fire ball pythons recently and I am wondering how can one tell the difference with a normal. They look somewhere between a normal and a pastel. Are there any foolproof methods?
Cheers.

Hmmm....wheres Foschi when you need her? She gives just about the best description of a fire you can ask for...and some. Careful though because you compared the almighty fire to a normal, now you might have all of BP.net on you. Just goes to show and PROVE my point AGAIN Foschi and all you others that thought I was nuts.
Anyway! They are usually a lot lighter, although you WILL see some that aren't as bright as the next and apparently there are scammers? I wasn't aware of this either until everyone jumped down my throat and claimed I was showing a normal rather then a Fire. Maybe there right maybe not, just make sure they don't look TOO much like a normal. They all seem to have that as I put it 100 times in my other post lol "normalesque" look to them. Fires really do resemble normals a lot they just have a different look to them. Just make sure to pick the brightest to avoid the "fire scamming" problem that everyone here brought to my attention. They also have head markers which look like a faded circle, or other shapes sometimes which is how a lot of people tell. I find this to be somewhat misleading just because I have seen normals with head markers lol. Once you look at a lot of Fires there is no mistaking them, but saying they don't resemble a normal ball is just plain ignorant IMO. Glad to see I'm not the only one now haha

LOL well I'm not going to jump on the OP. If a fire is seen by itself with no normal beside it to see the difference, it can look very much like a normal to people hwo are not used to seeing them. I have a good pic of a fire next to some normals to show this. I'll have to post it in a little bit though. Kinda busy at the moment..
Its actually had to describe a fire without having a picture for the OP to look at. I'll be back

This is a Sulfur and normal. The Sulfur is my line of Het Black Eyed Lucy. Most are pretty easy to spot based on an overall lighter golden color, head markings, and clean belly. Sometimes, it is hard to tell...

Re: How does one pick out a fire bp?
The reason I ask is because I picked up an adult male that had great light colouring but I knew it was not a pastel. Also, he has a real light head, which I know is a mark on several morphs. Then I came across something about these "Fire" bps and it got me thinking. That would be pretty cool. I will take some pictures next to my normal for comparison, then we can have the verdict of the panel.
You guys are radical. Have I ever told you that? Thanks a bundle for your help.

Re: How does one pick out a fire bp?
Anyone looking to get their first fire should try to see the fire next to a normal so you can judge the color and quality. They can have any or all of these characteristics.. Flames, blushing, lip spots, mustache, lighter upper lip than a normal, should have clear belly scales like a pastel does, light head markings, ringer markings, railroad tracks along lower belly. Not every one looks like that but many of them should apply. They should be quite a few shades lighter than a normal with a light yellowish or orangish tint in daylight...

~Male with pyramid head marking, one lip spot on other side with this side just being light colored~

~Two fires with two normals. Fires are on the right~

~Two fires with to different normals from above. Fires in middle~

~Heres the tricky one. Two fires with a light normal. Normal is upper right~

I hope the different comparisons with all the different normals helps. That way you can see fires next to normals with all different patterns and shades.

To me they look more ghost like...

They have clear bellies without all of the wide squiggly lines that normals possess.
