I don't understand? A piece of the shed or an actual piece the tail? If you can take a pic, this sound weird...

    Hi,

I think he means he tore the old skin while she was in blue and thus had a layer of liquid between the old skin due to be shed and the new skin forming underneath?

Sadly I have no idea if this will have any consequences for the skin underneath or what he should do in the meantime.

yeah thats what i did, technically since she's in the blue the old layer of skin is nearly all eatin away by the liquid and the underneath layer nearly all developed so there's no really any big danger but i wanted some advice from the experts anyway maybe someone expirienced this.

You will probably see a delay in the shed due to this. You may also see a continuing issue with that area in the future. I would recommend that you not handle the snake once it starts the shedding process. This is for your protection too. Some snakes get a little grumpy during this time and can bite.

    Good Luck!

I'm just waiting for one of the other members to say that snakes don't have feelings and don't necessarily "like" stuff.;)

I had a patch of skin accidently get rubbed off while one of my snakes was going into blue and this is what it looked like post shed:

The yellow patch is where the skin rubbed off. It slowly went back to normal, and at first I had to put neosporin on it to keep the scales from drying out and flaking up.

When I first got my snake someone on here put it to me like this....(sorry cannot remember who). Think of a sunburn....you really don't want to be touched. Made sense to me....so once they are blue...I try not to handle.

I'm kind of in the camp that snakes defnitely have preferences. While yeah, some of mine don't like being handled (tho they do tolerate it), some of them seem to prefer being wrapped around my hand rather than being put back in their tank.
