Re: No one really answered?
If you're looking for a medium-larger sized python, yes carpet pythons are a great choice.
They're fairly skinny-bodied compared to some other python species (as is the case with most aussie pythons in fact), and there's a number of sub-species varying in coloration and size. Irian Jaya carpet pythons are the smallest subspecies, you're looking in the 5'+ territory. Coastal carpet pythons can get pretty large, topping 10', but despite being that long have less mass than, for example, 10' BCCs. The best way to guage what size you'd be comfortable with is to, rather than just look at a "number", is to look at actual pictures of people handling the larger subspecies. BP.net's very own Colin Vestrand has posted a pic of a very large coastal jaguar (jaguar is a carpet python morph) held by his wife, who as I understand it is a fairly short lady, and she seemed to be just fine with it.
You can find jungle, irian jaya, and coastal carpet pythons in affordable ranges. The prettier ones will be more expensive, but you can get any of those subspecies in your price range.
Check out the morelia subsection here and moreliapythons.com, there's lots of good information out there.

Coastals tend to be pretty cheap, and a alright looking jungle is pretty cheap too. But as an adult your not going to get the high yellow contrast if you dont buy it. Contact Steve at Sek Exotics. He has great jungles. The parents are crazy yellow. Thats where i got my male from.

Is he somewhere on this site thanks is he pretty affordable
Re: No one really answered?
I dont know if he's on this site. But he hads adds on faunaclassifieds. But if your just looking for an "affordable" snake then just look on faunaclassifieds for some inexpensive carpet. But remember, you get what you pay for. A 75 dollar jungle will probably have alot of muddying and really dull yellows.
Re: No one really answered?
I don't know if he ships, but MPenn here has some pretty nice looking carpets, at reasonable prices. His IJ's are very nice, in my opinion. And he has a few striped coastals, I believe.

See my problem is i have know idea the difference i need a hard core lesson on the morphs i have everything else down pat meaning husbandry wise and care.
Re: No one really answered?
Really the only "Morph" would be Jag. Coastal, Jungle, Diamond, bredli, and Irian Jaya are all just sup-species. Coastal being the largest, IJ being the smallest.
