    Re: UTH Question
A 20 gallon long isn't really a 20 gallon when it comes to floor space so I would get a 30-40 gallon size uth! You can use the one you have on the cool side if you need to get the temps up!

Look for a UTH that covers approximately 1/3 to 1/2 of the floor...

It doesn't "seem" to keep him warm enough? How are you measuring temps? a 10-20g UTH will heat to well over 100*f unless controlled by a thermostat or rheostat.

I don't have a probe so its likely not that accurate but i get 71 F right directly over the UTH. I would like to get it warm enough that i dont need to use the heat lamp all the time. btw i'm not freezing him the heatlamp i use keeps it between 88-95 f Like i said i would like to be able to go without the heatlamp as it dries him out too much

Well then your first order of business is to get a thermometer with a probe so you can get an accurate reading of how much heat your current UTH is putting out before you go out and buy another one.

    Re: UTH Question
I can't see the uth only being 75! Whatever you are using to measure temps are way out or you got a bad uth! Use the digital with the probe!

    Re: UTH Question
it is in fact ranging from 96-109f. I have a thermostat on the way to regulate the temperature. That measurement is from his hide right above the uth. The ambient temp drops down to about 71 or so at night is that a problem?
