    Replacement trim?
Does anyone know of a place online that ships where you can buy replacement aquarium trim (that plastic frame around the top) for a 48x24 glass aquarium?

    Thanks

Thanks , unfortunately they don't carry it in 48x24 :( , you'd think if they did custom tanks they could custom make it but the reply to that was "NO" ...

yeah, it seems odd to me that those are so hard to find. you can usually get them fairly easily for 10g or 55g (standard sizes), but nothing else. well, i didn't seem to have any trouble when i was looking for those sizes anyway.

that's because the plastic injection molds used to makes these frames can cost upwards of $100,000 to make. it's simply not feasible to make a mold for a custom tank frame that you do not sell a lot of. you would have to sell a lot of frames to even cover the cost of the mold

the reason why you see 55G frames around is because it's a standard size that a lot of people have, thus, you will sell a lot more frames for that size.

the only 2 places online that i have found that sell these frames are

    http://www.aquariumframeswholesale.com/

    http://www.glasscages.com/

This place used to sell them but they are no longer in business

Find a machinest in your area. Most can replicate any part using cnc, laser cutters, ect. Won't be super cheap but it shouldn't be to exspensive. The other option of course is to build your own out of wood.
