I should've started with Red Tails

I've had my two regular Ball Pythons for a few months now. After bringing home my baby red tail tonight, I'm kicking myself for not starting with boas. TOTALLY different snake imo. I'm in shock as to how laid back my little girl is. She's a pastel with 100% het for albino. I'll be adding some pics up tomorrow. No idea on the name yet. Her personality just threw out any name I may have had for her. My BP's are much more....on edge. I was blown away at how the boa will let me touch her head and appears to have total trust in me already. LOVE IT

only reason i don't have a redtail...

well i started out with 1 corn snake. i now have 8 corns, 2 BRB's, and 11 ball pythons.

if i got a red tail, i'd probably have a handful of them before i know it!! and i seriously do NOT have the space for that!

I fear the same. I thought I would have the same issue with BP's, which I kind of do, but the attitude of the Boa's match mine almost exactly. I like not having to worry about going to pick the snake up and getting tagged.

Long story short, both of my BP's are rescues. The younger is really starting to become a wonderful snake. The second however, after his last shed, he's turned rather weird. Very sketchy and doesn't want to be bothered or touched. Every time I stick my hand in his tank to either check on him or to clean up some of his poop, I worry that I'll finally find out what it's like to be bitten. He's actually going to a new home tomorrow so I hope the new owner can figure out what's going on.

Same here. Red-tails are so much more personable than ball pythons. Balls just sit there and look pretty, when they are not hiding, which is most of the day. My red-tails are always peeking around the corner or looking out of their cages when I walk in the room. They also don't mind to be held, and are very explorative. I also like their size better than balls. They are not too big, and not too small.

On this topic - do the boas have the exact same cage/care requirements as the bp's??? I too would like to get a red tail boa as my next snake.

Aggressive attitude wouldn't be my reason for the switch. Snakes have different attitudes just like people do. Many people complain that baby boas are nippy (mine wasn't) and that balls are super docile. Personal BOTH my boa and my ball are super docile.

Boas are awesome, I like their appearence better than balls, and I like the bigger size. However, just because you've had the luck of having a nice boa and two spooky balls, doesn't mean all boas and all balls are like that.

No, most boas get larger, so will need a larger cage. However, there are some dwarf boas that could be kept in a smaller cage. One thing you have to remember though is that boas are semi-aboreal, so may do better in an enclosure with some height.

In my experience, hatchling boas are the docile ones, and balls are the nippy ones.

I have one of both and couldnt complain about either personality. My BP is less head shy than the boa but even the boa is comming around. I personally perfer the Boa because he is more active out of the cage.

The temp/humidity arent exactly the same as far as ideal requirements go but the ranges interlap if Im not mistaken. Im goin off the top of my head so somebody correct me if Im wrong.

I am the opposite. I am wishing I had started with the BP's. They have cooler morphs and are much smaller therefore easier to handle and they don't take up as much room. I do agree though that my RTB is an absolute sweetheart, she is extremely docile.
