Those who have converted mini fridge to incubator. A question.
How large of a mini fridge do you think you need for 1-3 BP clutches. More than likely it will only be one or two.

I'm starting to look now in anticipation of next season.

    Thanks

A 4.0 cubic foot mini fridge will hold 3 clutches if you use 6qt tubs, 4 or 5 if you have small clutches and put them in smaller tubs.

It's a great idea to have it set up ahead of time, I have my new coke cooler incubator purring away in the closet now awaiting any of the 5 clutches I'm expecting this season.

This past season I was very happy with my mini fridge and how my eggs turned out.

Oh and to get it, find your local classifieds, or even craigslist and say that youre looking for broken mini fridges for a hobby. I got a lot of responses that way and paid nothing for it.

    Ditto.
Flexwatt heat tape, a thermostat and the free fridge and presto :)

My fridge was 2 months old, the owners little kid broke the copper freon tube and released they freon, so they gave it away.

It depends on the containers you plan on using as egg boxes...
a 4 cubic foot should be fine for 2-4 clutches... If you plan on growing you may want to think about making something bigger now instead of starting over when you are going to produce more clutches than this one will hold.

I built an incubator out of an Igloo 150 qt marine cooler (Walmart) last season that will hold 8-10 7qt rubermaid tubs nicely with good air circulation for even temps. Cost me less than a mini fridge
