Another Newbie feeding question
Today I offered my little guy a hopper rat with no luck. Looked like the perfect size for him but the only response I got from him was a few get this thing away from me stikes. So.....I took the rat back and the girl traded me 2 mice. I offered the mouse and Wham! instant take. So I grabed the other mouse and put him on the tongs and no go. My question is if he wanted the 2nd mouse would he have hit it and coiled like the first or do I bop it and try to gently place it in his mouth as he's finishing the first?
As for the rat thing I guess I can try again down the road....I'd love to have him on rats but he just doesnt seem to even wanna mess with them.
Thanks for the help guys.
Chris
Re: Another Newbie feeding question
No if he wants it he will take it. Don't ever assist feed unless it has been a long long time since they ate.
Also I feed mice and haven't switched over to rats yet....but I hear you can rub the rat on a mouse and that will help. Also you can take some of the mouse droppings and bedding and rub it on the rat as well.

Re: Another Newbie feeding question
After the first mouse, wait until it is fully down for at least 15 minutes before offering the second one. He should take it and coil it within a minute or two if he wants it!
