Mojave wieghing 400g is that normal
so i went on a website that sells ball pythons, and i was wondering is it normal for a male mojave python to weigh around 380g-440g. it was born on 7/18/08.

That seems a bit on the light side.... perhaps it is a problem feeder.....

A snake that age should be at least twice the weight or thereabouts

there is no set size a snake should be at what age. i have a pair of siblings from same clutch and theres a 500gram difference from the 2. They all grow at different rates.

yea the one i might purchase is 450g, but i was curious to know what there weight should be. and on that site they are to be 1 year and 4 months, so technically not 2 years old yet.

just be sure you see many pictures to be sure its not under weight and has a nice body tone. Some snakes just do not grow.

http://royalconstrictordesigns.com/i...p?page=mojaves i went on that website, so do you think that place is a legit place to purchase ball python or a scam. I found the link to this site from ballpythons.net. it also listed other popular sites to purchase ball pythons.

Those mojaves look good. Since males can breed at ~500 grams, they may not feed them like they feed the females. Probably just a conservative diet.

is it bad to buy a python that is 1 year and 4 months old? Do you think it would be aggressive because it probably wasnt tame as much.

My mojave is from 19/09/08 and weighs in at 1200 grams. He absolutely rips apart any size rat I feed him..

There are always exceptions, but most ball pythons are not aggressive, regardless of how often they are handled. Being handled more often doesn't make a snake more or less aggressive (well, it could make it more aggressive if you stress it out).

I don't worry about age when I'm adding to my collection. If it's a snake that I like, and I think it's a great example, that I believe would work well with my selective breeding, regardless of age, and regardless of price, I buy it.
