January 15 '10: East Texas Salamandering
Hi,
As a start to getting this forum more attention (ha.ha.) I am posting some photos from this weekend. I went to east Texas to meet up with some friends to herp for the weekend.
We spent saturday dipnetting, sifting through leaves, and rolling logs in the Angelina National Forest. We ended up seeing four species of salamander, but only five specimens total. A Eurycea was not photographed, but I managed to get photos of the following.

We walked up on this Marbled Salamander (Ambystoma opacum) basking on a branch.

These photos are awesome Matt! You took some great photos, oh and I forgot to tell you that yesterday when I was working I saw the Tiger Salamander swimming in a dish of water it has in its enclosure and it was pretty sweet. I've actually never been really close to a Salamander, I kinda wanna know what they feel like.

What makes you think San Francisco is even close to Arizona herping-wise?
