I learned that duct tape and snakes don't mix
My 8 year old son has a 6th month old corn snake. A few months ago the screen on his cage got stepped on. My husband fixed it with duct tape. Unfortunately, Popcorn (the corn snake) got caught in it. We thought she was going to die. My son was so upset. Someone suggested we take the snake to a vet. We did, and they got her off using mineral oil. If this ever happens to you try mineral oil or olive oil and a Q-tip to prevent tearing the skin.

Welcome to the forums. They have a few things that will dilute the hold of duct tape. Water will slowly, neosporin in a bowl will do it rather quickly, olive oil is probably faster, but I wouldn't of used mineral oil. I use that stuff to clean oil off parts for cars & bikes. As long as the snake doesn't get sick or anything though, I wouldn't worry about it.

Your welcome, and just to be more specific, pretty much anything oil based will de-adhesive the duct tape. Of course don't use paint or something like that.
Re: I learned that duct tape and snakes don't mix
I have used regular cooking oil to get sticky stuff off of a snake it worked great.

Do you have any advice on a young snake that is having trouble shedding completely? My other son has a young cornsnake that has shed twice but only partially. We are totally new to snake owning.

I would recommend viewing some of the care sheets, they offer great advice, but it sounds like your a bit low on humidity, try misting the enclosure, and monitoring the humidity, or when you see the corn is getting ready to shed, put wet spagham moss in the hide.

Thank you so much! We will try this.

I agree... Try raising your humidity to fix the shed problem.
