Oddly Colored BRB Clutch

A Brazilian Rainbow Boa at my work had her first litter of babies back in November. All the babies came out pink and silver in color. There had been a fire about a week before the litter was born, and at first we thought the stress had caused her to lay a few days early. After their first shed, they had not gained any color. The silver got more pronounced, and the pink got a little darker. So, after two sheds, they still have not gained any real coloration, but they are a tiny bit less bright. It was the female's first clutch. Here are pictures of the male female, and one of the babies.

Sorry the pictures are not great, just got a new light tent and camera, still figuring them out.

Assuming they don't color up, I have figured two possible options. a) The person we got the female from thought it was a Brazilian Rainbow, but it is different type of rainbow (Guyana or something) and the cross breeding caused. or b) The female carries some homozygous gene that does not express anything visually, but the het form is visual.

I do not know a ton about rainbow boa cross breeding, or what genetics are out there other than normals and hypos, so any input anyone else has would be great.

I know nothing about rainbow boas, but I would love to see some more pictures of the offspring. Especially a close-up.

The one in the picture you posted has some killer contrast.

Try to contact a breeder off KS. They may be able to answer your question.

Not that I am an expert, but the parents look like BRB's, not a Guyana, but scale counts, measurements, and such lacking, it does have that basic Brazilian look. The neo is fantastic! you should definitely post this on the KS Rainbow Boa forum. And maybe check in with Dave Colling at Rainbows-R-Us.com He's one of the guys there that's got a good background, and he's West Coast (San Jose) so maybe you can hook up at a show. He's a great guy. Otherwise, there's anery's as well as hypo's and rumor of a ghost BRB. And the calico, of course. At last count.

Really nice snakes in any event and I'd buy one in a heartbeat. Personal economy allowing....

I "Think" color is the last to complete itself during development..So, if it was delivered early that might provide an explaination as to why they are colored as such..But then again theres other possibilities too..The baby on my screen looks on par to what is normal, do you have pictures displaying pink and silver ??
