small amount of blood

my largest bp had gone number 2 and there was a tiny bit of blood. anyone heard of this? or know why??

I wish I could help you but I honestly have no experience with that. All I can tell you is what I would do... monitor him for a couple days and see what my gut instinct tells me to do... wait it out or visit the vet. After having a positive experience with taking my snakes to a vet with reptile specialty experience, after what would have likely been sure death to my snakes given some time... I probably would take it to the vet. But I would schedule a regular visit, not an emergency visit.

i would monitor the snake and watch its behavior. blood in its stool is not normal so make a vet appt to check for parasites n keep fresh poop in a plastic bag in the fridge for testing.

Lee reminded me of something about fecal samples - err, poop tests. The poop needs to be x hours old or fresher. If you might go that route, call the vet you'll use and ask them how fresh does the poop need to be in order to get a solid test result. Either way you go, best find a good vet now, even if you don't use it. When you really need it, or you decide you gotta take him now, that's too late to be picking a vet. A vet visit would likely cost between $50-120, depending if its emergency or what the local rate is.

Not that I am a vet but what does it look like?
Dry, dark, light, fresh, black, ....

What ever it is take note of it because this can provide information that can narrow the problem down. If it is bright red, or pretty fresh looking it may still be bleeding. If it is dark or black it can be bleeding a while ago.

But, definitely see a vet with a fresh fecal as the other ppl advised.

Depending on your version of a "tiny" bit of blood, I wouldn't worry about it unless the snake keeps bleeding from it's vent. But the nsake on paper towels or newpaper and keep an eye out for more blood. If you see more blood, then a vet visit may be warranted. Is it bright red, dark red or black?

You don't need to take a fecal sample. The vet can do a cloacal wash and use that for the fecal smear.

the blood was very light colored but obv blood it looked almost like a mucus or some sort. he seems to be doing fine im going to try n feed him today n see how that goes. i was just worried have kept bps and reptiles for almost 5 years now and just never seen anything like that.
