The mouse should be as thick as the thickest part of the snake....I just feed my snake 10% of his weight so mines eating 30g mice

This was one of the hardest things for me to do is figure out the size. REALLY!! I always second guess myself!! What the other poster stated was right. It could be that she was just trying to figure it out still...she is very small still. You can get a scale...I bought one at a great price at Reptile Basics....they say 10-15% of their body weight. I have weighed the mice however that always seems so small. Now I tend to go with the thickest part of their body. :D

well now that he has eaten it you can barely even tell so its was ok in size i do think it took him a bit to figure it out. im just glad he ate. not to get my corn to eat on his own

I was always freaking out. And like the second time I fed mine she took it backwards and to the side. OMG....I thought it was stuck...it took her like 5 hours to eat it. That is when I found BP.net!!!! Now it has been a few months of keeping snakes....so I feel much more comfy. I have come to realize that they can swallow ALLOT more than I think they can...lol

It never ceases to amaze me watching them expand their jaws...crazy!!

I go with the widest part of the snake which usually is more like 15 to 20% of the body weight but 15% is a safe weight! That is just me but I have no problems with feeding!
