1st Season of breeding, net some tips! Pls

Hi All

It's my first season of breeding and have a couple of questions about building my Incubator.

Got a pulse propotionate thermostat, heat mat, polystyrene box all set up.

Have any of you built your own boxes and did you have vents ie small hole in the bottom of one side and a small hole in the other side top (to allow air flow).

What is the ideal temperature to have your box at?

all tips appreciated.

No air holes it cause's temp spikes.

I incubate at 88 - 90 degrees

Here's a tip, don't ever expect things to go as planned. And when you've all but given up, you'll be rewarded.

Set the temp at 90 degrees. Have it set up at least 2 weeks before you expect eggs. No air holes are needed.

Now the most important part. Don't sweat it. These eggs eventually will hatch. They do it in the wild with no one around looking out for them. Keep track of your days.

You can have a little bit of fun, by asking your family to bet on their hatch date. Maybe the winner gets to keep a snake, or if you're breeding to sell, the winner gets the money from a snake that was hatched when it sells.

what kind of eggs are you expecting?

Dont forget to get a hygrometer with probe to measure humidity. Just run the wires for all these things through the opening with a tiny notch so you can close the lid well. You will circulate the air when you check the eggs for dents, sweat etc. So no holes are needed. A great tip if you ever find a mold spot on an egg is to keep a small bottle of athletes foot fungus powder and some Q-tips. A dab of powder on the mold spot will prevent it from spreading and will save the egg.
