Oh my god! Ewwwwww! The cat!!
I breed 3 types of rodents for my stock and some are in plastic totes and some in glass tanks. The other day I walked past the snake room and glanced in to see the cat sitting there in the middle of the room chewing on something!
I thought.. What the heck is he eating? Did he find something on the floor?
I look closer and see pink.. AAAAHHHHHHHHHH It was a mouse pinky!!!! :puke: :bleh:
The cat knocked the top off one of the glass tanks holding mice and helped himself! The female mouse must have just given birth but there was only 3 pinks in the tank by this time. I have no idea how many he got but I hope to hell he is happy for that once in a lifetime live mouse meal. I cant believe he did that. Ate my feeders! I chased that cat all over the house until we were both wore out for that stunt.

S'why all my mouse tanks have locking lids or heavy books on them.

It just so happens that out of all the tanks and tubs THAT one was the only one that didnt have a very secure lid. Well now it is secured and momma number 2 just had babies and the most the cat can do is just stare through the glass and drool :8:

My cat has little interest in the mice besides watching them. My moms cat is one that would try to get into the tanks. Luckily, my cat usually keeps him out of my room.

This is why I have to keep my cats and mice separated. Once I had some mice on the loose and I came home to find two of my cats with mice in their mouths. I didn't have to worry about those mice again. Since the cats were taking their time eating the mice and trying to eat them on my CARPET, I let the ferrets have them. The cat's haven't had a chance to hunt mice since then but I have offered them pinkies before. They don't seem as interested if its not moving around much.

LOL!!! But the cat is very well fed with his natural balance high quality food. I wonder what those poor mice were thinking when he got in the tank with them (3 females 1 male) and started picking babies out one at a time. I wish it had been the rats he went after. At least then it would have been a more fair fight. Those rat mommas bite hard if you go for their babies!

I hate how curious cats are. My cat even tries to attack my F/T rodents when I carry them upstairs! I don't like owning a cat while owning snakes. He's tried to get them numerous times, even my Bearded Dragon. I'm so tired of him getting in my business. I never let him in my room anymore, he's too much of a trouble maker.

Srsly? Cats are predators and eat rodents, wouldnt you expect that?
Crappy the cat snuck some, but ever thought of feeding a prey model raw diet to your kitty? If i raised feeders for snakes id be transitioning all the pets to raw.
