    sores under jaw
I have a 5-month-old male ball. I've noticed two spots under his chin, in exactly the same place on either side, that have been there for about two months. I think they may be sores, but I'm not sure. What are they? Should I be worried?

ditto....I am not sure how you get two sores in the exact same place on each side. Are you sure it is a sore and not his coloring??? Post the pics and that way everyone can take a look. Also sometimes that is a gathering spot for mites as well.

Sounds like your snake may simply be rubbing his chin. Probably nothing to worry about as some of my active snakes do this and it's rarely as issue. Photos may help confirm this though.

I can't get a good pic with the camera I have, but I took another look, and I do know that it is not mites, and it is definitely not coloring. It is definitely scabbing. It seems more likely that he is just rubbing his chin- I didn't think of that before. I just wanted to make sure he wasn't sick or anything. Thanx for the help.

check the inside of his mouth for discoloring. Do a search in regards to mouth rot on line and you will see some pics. Just to be sure!!

turns out it WAS mouth rot. He stopped eating right around the time I made my first post, but after a bit of research, I started treating it with peroxide, and within a couple of days, he ate two mice. Thank you, everyone, for your help.
