I Would Just Like To Warn You.
If you decide to start hockey I'd think 4 maybe 5 times before joining. Yeserday 4 Minute left in the hockey game I was nailed into the boards, HARDCORE! I was hit so hard into the shoulder I felt like I was about the pass out on the ice. I sucked it up like a man and watched the rest of the game feeling dizzy. I had 3 coaches help me off the ice at teh end of the game because I could not even skate. Once I got to the dressing room I had a really weird feeling in my body and before I new it I threw up on 2 boys bags. I was pale white and paramedics had to come. I was rushed to the hospital and was told I had my socket knocked out. Turns out I actually broke my Colar Bone in a spot most do not brake them. Anyway after waiting 3 hours to get a sling on my arm I was sent home to rest. I have and Xray appointment in one week from today to see if everything it healing right. I feel like crap and wat to vomit always but can never do so.

Thats is my rant for today. If you have any questions I will be willing to answer.

Have you heard the joke.... I went to a fight the other night and a hockey game broke out.

I can relate. I came away from a fight with a black belt once with three broken ribs. Go big or go home!

It did! There is nothing you can do for broken ribs. Just pray you don't sneeze or cough.

I hope you are feeling better soon.

Sorry to hear about that. I hope you're feeling better soon. The high school where I went actually had a womens hockey team for a while. I think I enjoyed watching them more. They actually played hockey rather then just going out to hit each other all the time.

I can't imagine how you feel. I played lacrosse and football in high school, then I took a break from all sports until I was 30, then coached and played a little lacrosse. Then one of my boys started playing rugby, so I started coaching and playing when I was 42. Talk about getting beat up. They call it the old boys league, but I'm playing against 35 year old guys while I'm now 48. Talk about feeling like an old man. However, no matter how much I get beat up, I suck it up because there's some guys that are well into their 50's playing.

Thankfully, I've never been hurt like you have and I'm sorry for the pain your in right now. I hope everything goes well and you can recover.

It does suck getting old. This coming from someone that just had 5 bypasses from 8 blockages.

Get yourself a second opinion regardless of what the doctor says about your shoulder. Even if it's good news. Find another opinion. You could be handicapped for the rest of your life if that shoulder doesn't heal properly.

    Good Luck!

I completely know how you feel. When I was 35, I decided I wanted to learn how to play roller hockey :weirdface After almost a year, and a bunch of scrapes and bruises later, I got knocked over the wall during a game and landed on a bench and did a back flip over that. Immediately, my right arm went numb with sporadic pain shooting down it. At first the doc diagnosed it as a pinched nerve and gave me some muscle relaxers. When that didn't help they sent me to a neurosurgeon for x-rays. Now I have a metal plate screwed into my spine, between my shoulder blades where they had to fix a ruptured disc...

Sheesh...that does not sound fun at all. Men, you all can't help yourselves, the thrill of victory is just too great to resist the punishment:)JK

You know, I appreciate you sharing your story because I have a young son that wants to play hockey and I am terrified to let him do so. The injuries are so serious and people have been killed in the name of 'sport.' Thank goodness you are alive and well, and if you continue to vomit I would recommend a CAT Scan if they haven't already done one.

Please get better, and please be careful...I imagine you are somoene's loving son and they are worried sick about you too;)

    Be well

I'm still a teenager, so I still have alot comming to me , but when I was in ice hockey a year ago a player tripped me with stick, and I fell against the ice VERY hard, and the way I landed on my stick sure didnt help a thing. I broke 2 ribs on my right side, sprained my ankle, and broke 3 of my fingers. I couldn't even get up, and the ice around me was covered in puke.
