    Why do some of the companies who manufacture racks only use back heat? I thought belly heat was better? I have been steering away from buying a rack from them because of this.

    I don't think it matters how you heat it as long as the temperatures are right. Most of the time though back heat is used on smaller tubs. I wouldn't use it on a 41qt tub rack.

    The thing with belly heat is, if you have a thermostat malfunction, your snakes are more likely to be damaged by the extra heat than if it was back heat. I actually do use back heat on my 41qt racks, mainly because it saved quite a bit of time in the construction of them, but I also control the ambient temperature of the entire room.
