    More Thoughts of the Day
I should start having more thoughts of the day!

Regardless of whether you agree with "morphs" or not, they are a large part of this hobby and industry. And we are all as entitled to like and keep them as someone who prefers "normal animals." However when certain venomous keepers resort to childish remarks by calling us "stupid" for liking morphs, or wanting to purchase them, they are in essence alienating themselves from a large part of said industry.

And when the time comes when venomous are on the federal legislative chopping block, do these same people honestly expect people like me to still help fight for them in return? They are lucky I still even support keeping hots considering all of the bites, screw ups, and irresponsible behavior that takes place with them.

YES, we as a group need to stick together regardless of what species we keep.

Accidents with Hots are just like accidents with non venomous herps. They are usually defensive bites or stupid feeding errors. Sure the consequences are certainly different though, but does that mean someone who keeps hot responsibly should be punished because someone else "accidentally" got bit?

    NO

I think to say they are "lucky" you even support them just goes to show you easily we can diversify ourselves amongst one another. It also gives the impression that one "group" of herpers fancies themselves more important than another.

We are ALL fascinated by these magnificent animals, regardless of what species we like and choose to keep.

That makes us a COMMUNITY that should fight for EACH AND EVERY other person who chooses to make these animals a part of their lives.

Sorry, but this is becoming more and more difficult for me to do everytime I hear venomous keepers and their dying hobby make statements such as "why keep genetically defective animals?" i.e morphs. and "only someone stupid would want to buy morphs".
They are only hurting themselves in the long run when they make these kind of statements.

The easiest way to defeat our interests are to divide us. If the NRA has taught us anything, it's that we all need to stand firm as a whole. If colubrid folks don't take an interest in the Boa/Python ban, their colubrids will be on the chopping block in the next few years.

As far as "hots", I love them, but I will never own one because of the danger. The danger level is too high for me, but others (including a very good friend) don't feel the same. That's a personal choice. We all have a personal choice to keep herps, others want to that that away from us. WE ALL must fight for our hobby or we won't have a hobby any longer.
