    ? about a few things!
i was thinking about this the other day.. i want to breed ball pythons... as of now i have 1 normal female and 1 pastel female .. the pastel is 50% pos het axanthic

don't matter what i do i have to wait about 2 years be4 i start breeding.. and i might have to wait 3 if my females are still not big enough.. i do understand that..

but my ? is how much do you al think ball python morphs will go down in pice over those next 2-3 years?

how low do you think the prices for pastels and spiders will go down.. ? when will they stop going down? i know everybody makes there own price ive heard that before .. but the way i see it to stand a chance selling bps ill need to have my bps close around everybody elses prices.. even more so since i will be new to selling bps so no one at that point would have gotten any bps from me..

i have seen the morph bumble bee go from 1,000 to 650 in a couple months.. that is a big diff...

im looking to spend a lot of money on ball pythons and a rack for them.. among other things for them..

i added it up last night if i got a male bumble bee 100% het axanthic (to try and prove out my pastel ps i was planning on getting a bumble bee anyways) and if i got 1 female lesser, 1 female cinnamin... and i got a rack from boaphile and a lil money to the side for things that might come up like vet bills or anything like that..... (i plan on making my own incubator)

ill be looking to spend prolly 2,500.. the number i came up with was closer to 2,000 but its always better to aim too high then to low...

the thing is right now i have no money lol.. it wouldnt be till this summer when i would have that kind of money....

so im asking about the prices because i don't want to get in a place where i spent all that money and can't make it back due to morph prices dropping..

don't get me wrong im not doing this just cuzz i want to make money.. im doing it because so far i really like the idea of breeding snakes.. (i love!!! owning sankes)... the only reason im worried about money is because i plan on taking care of my snakes from the money i get from breeding.. and keeping some of the things i hopefuly get from breeding (queen bee!, killer bee!, lesser bee! supper pastel!, cinna bee! pewter! pewter bee!) thats a lot of snakes!!! and if i get axanthic ill be keeping one or 2 of those... so ill be buying more racks with the money i make from selling the ones i don't keep lol..

im just trying to keep myself out of $$ trouble .. :gj:

and wondering if i should just stick with my pastel and normal.. and breed my bumble bee to them.. but thats kind of a wast cuzz ill have a 5 shelf rack...

and i also am hoping no snake ban never takes place.. :taz: that would be a big prob.. but of course if i want to get where i want to be in 3 years i have to start building snake collection up now so i can start breeding in 2 years.. so i can't think about that..

but any info on any of this would help me out! thanks!
sorry it was so long long btw!

it is all about supply and demand.
forget about the money. only spend what you can afford.

Buy what you like and have fun with them.

Do not count on spending money based on your future breeding programs.
    it may not get there.
Just have fun and enjoy your animals. :salute:

ditto!! Do it for fun and if you make some money...awesome! I know that it took one of the breeders I use 10years to get in the black so to speak. I plan on breeding eventually but for the experience of it. If I make a little bit of my money back...woohoo...if not....I sure it will be a blast!

just plan on having to spend out of pocket what ever it will cost to care for the snakes you have now plan on buying and the ones that hatch out. even if the prices go up for the morphs you breed you cant count on anyone buying all of them for sure.

if you plan that way if you happen to sell a snake at any cost youll be ahead of where you planed for.

I would also love to breed to gain experience because when i get older I want to be an exotics vet specializing in reptiles-mostly pythons and boas and a ball python breeder and maybey a boa breeder. I would too like to gain money to take care of them and also its a big raise in my account to buy more snakes. Because you cant earn a lot of money when your young. ;)

Only people that don't breed snakes think there's money in being a snake breeder.

Caviat: Some do make money but they're the exception rather than the rule.

I've made millions of dollars breeding my snakes over the years. However, I've spent billions doing so.
