Burrowing Question related to heat.

Will my bp burrow into the substrate if the heat of it is not proper? The reason i ask this is i just got a new substrate (coco fiber) and a new uth to get rid of the bulb, and help with humidity. I just would like to know so i dont have a 105 degree +/- uth to keep the surface warm enough and it decides to start burrowing. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yes, bps will burrow if they want too. I suggest using a thin layer of substrate and dont let the temp on the glass under the substrate get above 95*F.

Be sure you have a thermostat controlling your UTH. I have heard some pet stores tell you that you do not need them ....YOU DO!!!

My BP's burrow everytime we do a full clean on their cage....they are re-arranging.

Ive got both my uth's hooked up to a rheostat and tweaked pretty well to the point they are both where they should be, 95 hot side, 85 cool side, 40 gal tank, keeping an eye on the temps tho, the coco subs wasnt as dry as i wanted it to be before i put it in there, just used the heat lamp to cook the surface, gonna be mixing it all up daily to make sure nothing molds. Saw another substrate i might want to try as well, Douglas Fir and sphagnum moss mixed and damp in a bag from Zilla. Cant find to many constructive opinions on the stuff though. Probably going to start a new thread for it. Would it be ok for the ambient temps to be 70-75 as long as shes getting her belly heat? So many questions. So much time. lol.

i keep my ambient between 77-80

Douglas Fir...that is pine right?? I don't think you are suppose to use that. Check the care sheet...it will tell you what you can and cannot use. I have been using a loose bag of Eco Earth and I like it for now. But cannot wait to get my rack so I can switch to papertowels. ;)
