If You HAD to Choose Between...
If you HAD to choose between a Boa and a Carpet Python, which would you choose, and why? I know they are two totally different snakes but I am having a hard time deciding. Thanks. :gj:

I have just always liked BCC red tailed boas. Never had a carpet python though.

I love the Dumeril's Boa (sp) and the Argentine Boa. I think one of these will be my next animal. I personally don't find the Carpet Python to look that interesting and I have never seen one that is really thick, but thats my own personal opinion. (I don't want to offend anyone who has one.);)

This is more of your decision. Do you want a large heavy bodied snake or a large slender body snake? I do not like most boa's and there is a few morelia that I do not like, so morelia for me!

Carpet, simply because I am more of a python person.

    Carpet.

As with Deb, I'm more of a python person.

    Plus, they are climbers.

They get big without being "too big".

Not every 12 year who likes to see rodents get squeezed to death has one.

THey are very handleable and tameable.

They are extremely hardy with a very nice range of temp and humidity tolerances, especially for pythons.

They have one of the best feeding responses out there. In fact my girl on day 3 after a med rat came out looking for food when I opened her cage door to clean today.

They have a wide range of prices and colors/patterns for every person's needs. You can get yourself an average "pet" snake for a very affordable price, or you can start up a trophy animal breeding project with expensive snakes that everyone will "oooh" and "aaaaah" at.

That said, I love BCCs, especially Peruvians. They are very much more heavy-bodied, have that gorgeous tail, and give live birth which is really cool. They're less hardy however, and females do get big enough to start to be a concern for me when it comes to handling (not for personal danger, but simply because a 60+lb snake that wants to roam can be a handful).

BCIs vs Carpets? Not even close for me, as the thing I love most about BCCs is their size.

Boas = live bearer - no eggs to worry about!

Gotta be the Dumeril Boa by far.
