    need advice w/rack/tubs
    hi everyone,
so i decided to buid my own small rack (4-5 tubs), i went to three walmarts and did not find the 32 qt tubs that most people seem to use but they had plenty of 28 qt, so i went to target and found the sterilite 32 qt ,# 1755. now where i'm getting confused at is that i measured the 32 qt (target # 1755) and 28 qt(walmart # 1846) both sterilite, and they were exactly the same dims, 16W X 23L, i did not measure the H but was it really nessecary to go all over the place to find a larger size tub with the same dims? or could i have measured wrong and i need to go back and check? also i was lucky to find the last accurite in walmart. i going tomorrow to HD and buy a 8*4 mdf and have them cut it into (2, sides) 4*2 and (4, shelves) 2*2 and i will also buy (1) precut to be cut into 2*2(shelves), if i'm correct that should give me for 5 shelves. the tubs are only 16" W and the shelve will be 24"W, can i go with 12"*4" of flexxwatt or should i go with 24"*4"? sorry for the rush but i'm at work right now. and thanx for the help in advance.

The 28qt or 32qt tubs should be fine for everything up to breeding size females. Some people even keep their breeder females in that size.

Looks like you have the right numbers for the rack, two sides and six shelves.

You could probably get away with 12" of flexwatt and centering the tub on it but keep in mind you can cut it to any length you want so you could make it 16". If you were to put a 24" piece it would allow you to sneek a 6qt tub next to the big one, put two 12qt tubs side by side or potentially three 6qt tubs side by side. That kind of versatility would be worth the $15 to me.

32 quarts will work well for males and females up to a certain size (They are hard to find though try target they might still carry them) for large females I would suggest get 41 quarts.

4 inches of heat tape will be sufficient if ran across.

Some of the new locking ones have humps where the handles are and would prevent you from getting the tub snug enough in the rack.
