    *Help!* Ranco Problems
I just noticed that my temp in my rack was 77 and my Ranco is reading a E2 error and wont work. Ive only had it for a year. has anybody ran into this before. And where is the best online place to buy a herpstat.

Online Herpstat's honestly, right from the source.

    www.spyderrobotics.com

The E2 error message I believe isn't fixable.

Thanks...I also found a tip that said to switch the settings from Fahrenheit to Celsius and it does seem to be working again, However I think i will still get another since this one seems to be having problems. Are Helix and Herpstat pretty much the same quality or is one generally preferred over the other?

I had one do that to me too. At least it failed in the off position. Since then I've switched to a Herpstat Pro and will never look back.

I've had Johnson Controls, Rancos, Herpstat, and Helix.

I currently use Rancos and Herpstat's.

The Herpstat's are nicer than the Helix in my opinion, especially the Pro model that I currently use.

I also prefer the Ranco over the JC, BUT they're pretty much the same. The JC is able to have a night drop hooked up to it though if you needed to.

They are both excellent. the herpstat nd was more feature than the helix, with the max watts at 600, night drop built into the unit, 1/10 degree temp setting, high and low temp level alarms, power outage detection plus many other features. makes this one a great thermomstat for incubators and works well for racks or single enclosures. the helix is simple to use, 1 degree temp setting, this one been used by pro breeders with a long excellent track record. I have both, I had a big power surge from a storm which blew out T.V.s, alarm clock radio, computers, my oil filled heater for my snake room. But all my herpstats and helixs were on when the surge hit, which was months ago and both types are still working fine.
