"Jan 2 '10 (more 2009 stuff added)"
Hi,
This forum is SLOW on BP.net, and perhaps we can change that this year. I got a lot more field herping done last year, and I'm planning on even more this year. I hope other people will be posting stuff too.
Today I went along on a bird count at Sheldon Lake near Houston. We beat the record of this particular count, with a few species short of a hundred. My dad ended up finding the coolest bird, a Ladder-backed Woodpecker.
Of course, the field herper in me couldn't resist flipping some of the stuff we came across. One tarp ended up having a Texas Rat Snake (Panterophis obsoletus lindheimeri), an adult and juvenile Eastern Coachwhip (Masticophis f. flagellum), and many more coachwhip eggs.
Pretty cool for early january.

Do you believe I found this snake this way when it was 45* outside? :D

Matt, I'm lovin' those Copperhead photos. You take some awesome photos, I really like how you take close ups of the reptiles and amphibians. Awesome job with the photos:gj:
