GREAT Photos, thank you so much for posting these.:gj: I am in the process of deciding between a Dumeril's or an Argentine Boa. I love them both, but have been told that the Dumeril's have better temperament. What do you think?
Do you know much about Argies?

Curious to know, thanks in advance.

My female is a sweetheart. she shows no signs of aggression at all. The male only aggressive on feeding times to the point after I drop food in the tank I have to cover the glass. otherwise he will strike at the glass anytime you walk by. But that is only at feeding time. other then that he is very handeleable

Nice pics, I love my Dumerils he was one the first snakes I picked up. Super nice, Craziest feeding response of any snake I own though. Long surgical tongs drop and run or I might lose a finger LOL. Swings back and forth with his mouth open like a shark sometimes.:colbert:

I haven't really been around Argentine's much but my first Boa is a Dumeril's, he's really defensive but very friendly if that makes sense. I mean, I open his cage and he will hiss and strike, if I set him down he'll coil back, hiss, and strike at me (was trying to get some pictures of him and almost got bit on the forehead). But as long as I grab him quickly and keep him in my hands he acts fine, he'll curl around my earlobe and side of my head...and imagine trying to get a reluctant snake off of your face and back into their cage. But I can't say he's aggressive since he's never came after anyone just doesn't seem to like seeing a larger creature hovering near or over him.

LOL! you need a hook!! I always go hook first with all of my snakes to show a difference to them that it is not feeding time. My Dumerils is not the one I want to make a mistake with. Once I tap them with the hook the head goes down and usually the opposite direction of my hand. If I grabbed my Dumerils quickly I would be quickly getting some stitches :colbert: I don't like stitches

I've never had that experience with either my male or my female. as long as it is not feeding time, I cant reach in and grab them with no issues. My female has never even as much as hissed at me. She's very inquisitive.
Its te male that gets really weird when he has food in his tank like "It's Mine", "Dont even think of taking it", "leave it alone" as he snaps at the glass anytime I walk by. But once the food is gone he's as calm as can be

I have had several Dumerils. Only one now, but I don't think I have ever seen or heard of an agressive dumerils. All of mine have been incredibly docile. Especially the female I have at the moment. That's a nice looking specimen, BTW.
