Re: dimpled scales/eyecaps
You MIGHT try bumping the humidity up for a little while on him and see if it goes away. Those Acurite deals are pretty close, but can vary greatly.
Tricky thing with Bloods is they get dimpled scales with BOTH too low and too high humidity.
Dimpled eye caps is always too low of humidity though.
I have seen animals bump their eyes against something, seemingly, and get dimpled eye caps for a while, maybe that's the case.
I have also seen animals with what looked like "cracks" in the eye caps from what looked like retained eye caps. They never went away and didn't affect the animals at all.
Try upping the humidity for a bit and report back.
Re: dimpled scales/eyecaps
Thanks a lot, and I will let you know how everything progresses.
Re: dimpled scales/eyecaps
I just wanted to say that my big guy Carnage went through a shed about a week or so ago and after I bumped his humidity up his eye caps are about 90% normal...and by his next shed I am confident they will be flawless. I kept the humidity in the mid 70s % once he started shed, and in the upper 60s % after my post. I was thinking that maybe my digital thermometer was possibly off a bit, or he particularly thrives on the higher side of the required humidity gradient. Thanks for the help, and I just wanted to let ya know that he is doing great! :-)

Re: dimpled scales/eyecaps
that's good it is showing improvement, it really is a case of too much or too little, you have to find the right balance for each snake and your doing exactly that so good for you and better for the blood.:gj:
Re: dimpled scales/eyecaps
Being what and who they are they can be provided swamp conditions on occasion,2-3 days at a time..We do it for the shedding process..The prominent backbone and
massive girth clearly says if not provided with proper conditions I will leave stuck shed pieces to myself..Once the shed process is over we go back to the normal set up..This will allow for them to become better hydrated, This time of year with heaters running its tough to maintain the perfect coat..
