    Male or female?
We just got a baby spider ball. The snake probes female, but when popped there are bumps that appear to be small hemipenes. Just from this, can one absolutely say whether this is a male or female? I mean is it possible for even an experienced individual to be unsure of a snake's sex?

If so, how owuld the sex be proven? Through breeding, or is there some other way?

Sorry for what may be an easy answer, but I'm fairly new and am trying to learn all I can.

the probing is the accurate way to sex the snake.. its a female unless your seeing definite hemipenes...

That is very similar to what I saw on ours. I think we'll go with this is a girl until proven otherwise.

    Thanks guys.

Those bumps are scent glands, which secrete musk. Both sexes have them. The male's hemipenes are much larger.
