Anyone Watch King of the Hill tonight?
I only caught part of it, but it was about a burmese python that got into Hank's house, and the efforts to pass a snake control bill or something? Interesting....

Was that the snake popping out of the toliet thing? I actually loled at that, and I hate that show. If that's the one, it's an old one.

LOL! I thought it was a good parody on the snake hysteria currently ongoing. Until the end....

    Spoiler: they kill the burm.

    Here's the episode:

If you've seen a lot of KOTH episodes, or even one for that matter, you'll realize that most of the subject matter is tongue in cheek. The comedy of the episode is that people are making such a big deal out of such a "harmless" animal. The episode is poking fun at a lot of different things, including negative snake stereotypes, and public hysteria in general. Bobby Hill is generally the most level-headed character (as I see it) and the least opinionated. In the episode, he is the owner of the snake, and is rooting for it the whole time, even while everone else is freaking out. Don't forget that the creator of the show also brought us Office Space and Beavis the Butthead. The episode it seems, in my opinion at least, is more about the ignorance of the general public than the dangerous nature of snakes.

Haha. I'd seen it before, but that was before I had ever owned a snake, so I guess it didn't really mean much to me. I scanned through it real quick when i saw this thread though. It's funny, cause at the hearing towards the conclusion, the animal control people admit that their proposed snake ban was stupid, and that it was just a scheme to make money and cause a ruckus.
Love that show, it touches on a lot of really interesting subjects.

To my mind, the show was as much (or more) about lazy and funds-hungry government officials promoting public panic to grab for the cash as about escaped Burmese pythons. I honestly felt more "pro" python in the episode than "con". (Though I disliked the ending as well...)

~Bruce, who _never_ watches "King of the Hill", but stumbled across it last night.

My husband felt it was more about making fun of the snake hysteria than against snakes as well. I really only caught a bit of the show, as I do not regularly watch it. Just wondered if anyone on here had watched it, and what they thought. :)
