    I built a new rack!
After struggling and struggling with my Zoo Med cage ( http://zoomed.com/ecom/ProductDetail...89&category=28 ) for quite some time, I threw in the towel and gave in to the fact that this caging sytem just isn't for BPs. I was able to get the temperature consistant with the Zoo med, but I never was able to get my humidity right.
So I came to the "rack side"
I picked up an assemble-it-yourself cabinet from Home Depot and turned it into this 11 row rack.
I have three different "zones" in this rack, so I can adjust the tempuratures in these zones to different settings (ie, cooling males, warming up hatchlings) if needed.
As I write this the temperatures are getting set, so I hope to move everyone over in the next day or so.
I'll be happy if I don't need to make one of these again anytime soon!

This is what I was thinking. I bet after a while you'll start to have some sagging along the shelves. Looks like there might be room to put a support in of some sort in the middle of the shelves.

Other than that, a very very nice job! Now you need to fill it all up!!

    Thanks everyone.
Yes it is melamine, and if I could do it all over again I would go with a 3 foot instead of 4 foot wide, I said that as soon as I finiseh it...
But I'm in an area of very low humidity, so the warping *shouldn't* happen as quickly as some climates.
Never-the-less, There are some supports in 3 of the shelves to help that, so we'll see how it goes.
But you're right, I DO need to fill it all up now!!!

LOL it's over 200lbs. You should have seen my husband and I carrying it up the stairs!!
I'm starting to see why most people have their snake rooms DOWN stairs!

But Danny, if I'm not mistaken, don't you have snakes that weigh more than my rack??!! :P
